The Alpha Nu Chapter of Omega Phi Alpha was inducted in the Fall of 2013. It all started when a group of girls shared their passion for community service and decided to start an organization on campus for other girls who were also passionate about service to join, but were not too sure on how to start. This is when the Colony of Omega Phi Alpha started in the Fall of 2011. The girls decided to get together at Alkek Library and brainstorm on how to begin and how to start. As they continued to brainstorm, they came up with important logistics that needed to be taken care of, including: where to meet, what was going to take place, and most importantly how excited everyone was! While taking care of these logistics, the girls worked hard in recruiting other girls on campus to join them.

As the Spring semester rolled around, they decided to get the word out more by setting up at the Student Organization Fair and recruit more amazing women. As they were down to their final steps to completing their Petition for Charter, everything got more serious. As a whole, they worked together to complete it, while also having fun along the way. At retreat, the girls shared experiences that brought them closer than ever before. Although this experience had brought the girls closer to their goal, some girls decided to drop due to personal reasons. After overcoming these setbacks, the girls wrapped their minds around their main goal and put their efforts in full force to finish the petition.

In the Fall of 2012, the girls were ready to be inducted and become the 27th chapter of Omega Phi Alpha, however some girls decided to drop and the numbers got too low to complete the requirements. Everyone was heartbroken, mad and in utter shock. With discouragement on their side now, the feelings became overwhelming to some, and decided they could not handle it anymore. After losing even more people, they knew they had to get their numbers back up again once again. The girls decided to hold an official rush, but unfortunately didn't work out as planned and got only four amazing girls. The next semester, they decided to hold rush again and this time it was successful! On January 19th, 2013 the ladies of the Texas State Colony of Omega Phi Alpha were inducted into the National Organization, and are now referred to as the Alpha Nu Chapter!
